Back in the basement... with another entry in the journal of Walter the Frankenstein monster. And, yes, Raul is back. The bookstore has been slow lately. It always seems to be in late spring. The school year is almost over and all the students (college and high school) have had their fill of literature. I know that there are those slightly more dedicated and come in all year round. Sadly, they are in the minority.
We tried to perk up sales by having a book reading. That flopped. Tom, our store manager, called the district manger. As usual, unless the idea is hers, she didn't really want to follow up on it. So, if there were any big-name authors looking to do a book reading/signing in this area, we never found out. Tom couldn't even find a local author.
Too bad Walter isn't around. That would have packed them in. Don't get me wrong. I am not suggesting that I would want to use my friend as a side-show attraction. I just know it would have worked is all.
Which kind of makes me a little more sad. Easter has come and gone, and thus so has Walter's “birthday”. I was hoping that this might be the year I finally heard from him. I keep holding out hope that he will come back, or at least write. (sigh)
